Word MasterCard Fashion Week Spring 2015 Review
It’s a wrap! The Fashion Week is over and after seeing all this beauty, talent and creativity it’s time for me to share with you my thoughts and summarize this fabulous event! Promise you, it won’t be too long, you know me, I keep it brief and to the point.
Firstly, I must mention the organizational aspect of the event, it’s my second time attending World MasterCard fashion week as a media representative and I must say that the stuff was always helpful with a positive and good attitude. The reason that I mention it, is because in fashion industry usually these things are not so obvious…
Now, let’s the FHASHION begin!
Top 5 trends alerts that we should take from the catwalk to our wardrobe :
1. 70’s are coming back – Wide leg and high waist pants, cropped wide leg pants and fringe skirts.
2. Pastels colors
3. Layers
4. Leather and sheer combination
5. Sporty and Elegant
Here is my brief review on the most notable and promising designers that have introduced their collections:
Bridal and Evening wear collections:
1. Stephan Caras
Probably this is my favorite show of the week! A royal collection with high level design work, with elements of ruffled sleeves that reminded me of the 17th century designs and long impressive dress trains. In short, I couldn’t erase the smile from my face and got my “goosies” during the show !
Creme de la Creme of the show 🙂
2. Pink Tartan
Glamour collection that joins to the biggest designers like Louis Vuitton , Emilio Pucci and YSL , that made their statement with the 70’s trend definition for ss 2015 .
3. Matthew Gallagher
Romantic and feminine collection, with pink and black colors combination accent, usually I don’t like these colors mix but somehow he succeeded to convince me , especially when I saw the pink skirt with a simple black top.
4. Narces
This collection was inspired by the Victorian style , I would have defined it as a princess collection, very gentle and young, with structured pastels dresses made from lace and airy fabrics.
5. Mikael D
He just conquered me with his puffed up lace and tulle layers designs, full-on fairy-tale and magical spirit. You should check his previous collections as well and see what I am talking about…
HD Homme
If you’re looking for a luxury menswear so you should check this brand out. The lead designer and creative director, Hussein Dhalla (HD) has brought his designs to life at such events as the Grammys and the Academy Awards. My favorite elements in his collections are always the structured blazers that come in a wide variety of colors and fabrics.
Casual , Cute and Edgy
1. Hayley Elsaesser
The most original, cute and fun collection of the week! She was the only one who brought some fun and uniqueness into the show and I just fell in love with this childish style and colors combination !
2. Bustle
I would define this collection as casual and chic, with European style touches.
3. Soia & Kyo
Sporty and elegant, effortless style for those who is looking comfort and sophistication.
4. Sid Neigum
I have always appreciated hand made and artistic elements in fashion designs, this minimalistic, edgy and stylish collection had both of them.
5. Minnie Mouse
Amazing concept! Designs inspired by the legendary Disney character, Minnie Mouse. I wish they had more designs and hope that next year there will be more Disney characters involved 🙂
Hope that now you know a little bit more about Canadian Fashion Designers and have your favorites like I do!
Yours,
M.
