When I started writing about fashion, I couldn’t have imagined that it would take me on this unexpected and amazing journey, full of surprises and creativity. All I have ever wanted is to share my knowledge and ideas, and now I can say that I have gotten more than I could have dreamt of. Recently I got the chance to participate and watch some of the biggest fashion shows in Toronto and NYC. For someone like me it’s not only a chance to learn and grow, but a chance to experience the amazing vibes and energy at shows; from when the music starts and the first model starts walking on the catwalk, it feels like magic and I don’t want it to end!
So enough about me, let’s talk business! You know me, usually my reviews contain some of the most noticeable and interesting designers to check . Promise you my list isn’t too long, since my purpose is to make it short and informative for YOU my friends. As well, this time I will be pointing out some of the trends that will help you to get ready for SS16.
So let the shows begin!
The 70’s are still in the picture, although lately the 80’s and 90‘s are very popular in designer collections and street style as well.
I am sure that we will be using a lot of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s inspiration for our outfits in the future so go check your mother’s closet, you might find something useful for you too 🙂
2. J Crew
We are going to be seeing a lot of vertical and horizontal colourful stripes, oversized blazers and clothes in general, including scarves and wide leg pants/culottes
I haven’t heard much about this designer, but this season he grabbed my attention with his hand-embroidered work and ethnic style that is very popular nowadays, and bright colour combinations!
Another designer that took my breath away during the shows was Chiara Boni! Her collection was one of the most elegant, charming and romantic ones that I have seen during NYFW. I loved the idea of matching heels to the outfit, and also her colour and fabric selections!
Helen’s main focus is on furs and jewelry; the show took place at the Crown Building on 5th Avenue.
I was amazed by her sophisticated style and high quality work. There are also many Hollywood celebrities that feel the same way, including Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and more.
Although I don’t support real fur products, I can be objective and point out when I see something in fashion that is a high-quality piece of art!
What can I say about this legendary brand? I don’t think there was even one instance where I didn’t like his collection. ODLR is always on top of elegance and style, royalty and nobility!
Please note: next summer we will be seeing another significant trend that you should know about it. The “off – the -shoulder” trend will be visible in shirts and dresses of any fabric and design.
I love his way of putting together sporty and casual with chic and festive. As you can see, he uses a lot of stripes, colourful prints and graphics that are going to be very trendy next season, as mentioned above.
I would wear every piece of his collection, so you must check it out! It is full of truly unique and stylish creations! Boho and ethnic styling, along with gold and metallic fabrics, and contrasting colours and prints combination were a major component of this collection, and of course very important “fashion message” that affects our SS16 wardrobe!
It is very important to mention that when creating one of the sets in this collection, the designer used recycled materials to eliminate waste. This is one of the most dramatic and powerful collections that also had an aspect of boudoir and lingerie in it, full of lace, silk and sheer fabrics, so get ready to be a little bit more sexy and dramatic next season.
I wish you all having something in your life that will make you feel and get positive energy and a little bit of goosebumps J
I also have a little secret to share: dreams can come true! All we need to do is work hard and try until we achieve them. Believe in yourself and do whatever is needed to achieve your goals!
